Hello, I’m Nick Potter
I set up Dr Digital to solve a simple problem: technology is moving faster than ever, but many of our neighbours in Torbay are being left behind.
Before launching Dr Digital, I spent more than 30 years working in telecommunications, including a long and rewarding career within BT Group and Openreach. Over those three decades, I worked on everything from installing physical cable networks to diagnosing difficult home WiFi faults.
The most important thing I learned wasn’t about copper or fibre-optic cables—it was about people.
When home technology breaks down, most people do not need a complex explanation or an expensive corporate call centre. They need someone local, patient and trustworthy to sit down with them, fix the problem and explain it in plain English.
Why I built Dr Digital
Helping Torbay stay connected
Torbay is my home. You may already know me through local community spaces, including the St Marychurch Oracle Facebook group. I love our community, but I also know that many older residents and families find modern “digital-first” demands overwhelming.
Whether it is a GP surgery asking you to order repeat prescriptions through an app, a television provider changing its signal, or your home WiFi suddenly refusing to work upstairs, technology problems can leave you feeling cut off.
Dr Digital was created to change that. My mission is to help you feel confident, connected and safe in your own home—without ever making you feel silly for asking a question.

I will explain things as many times as you need. There is no rush, no judgement and absolutely no technical jargon.
A focus on in-home safety
My Openreach engineering background means I look at the physical setup too. I can tidy tangled cords and remove redundant copper phone lines that may create trip hazards.
Protecting your peace of mind
We can improve basic online safety together. I will show you how to manage passwords securely and recognise the difference between a genuine message and an online scam.
Supporting health and wellbeing
If you want to use the NHS App or an online GP booking system confidently, I will guide you step by step so you can manage your health on your own terms.

More than a quick technical fix
Dr Digital is registered with the Torbay Community Helpline Voluntary Network, and I regularly collaborate with local community hubs supporting residents across Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Teignmouth and Dawlish.
